Sun Valley Arts Community
The Sun Valley / Ketchum arts community has a broad variety of offerings. The area is home to over twenty art galleries; the Gallery Association hosts evening gallery walks monthly in high season with nationally and internationally recognized artists. Five theatre companies provide live entertainment using local and regional actors from professional to first time thespians, and four movie theaters offer the newest releases. There is a plethora of music available in the valley including jazz, opera, classical (chamber & symphonic), folk and contemporary. Arts related classes for adults and children abound from painting to singing. There are two schools for dance that have classes from ballet to hip-hop. All the theatre companies offer classes for children at varying times throughout the year. Visual arts classes are offered both privately as well as organizationally.
In summer, the arts move into full swing with outdoor arts shows (one is August ranks among the top 25 in the nation), a writers conference, free symphony concerts, jazz concerts, jazz jamboree (in the fall), antique fairs, a wine auction, dance workshops, and more. The arts, now in an exciting state of growth, are an important and energetic part of the Sun Valley / Ketchum community.
