Sun Valley Medical Community
Blaine County enjoys the highest rate of physicians per population in the state (1990 census). The valley's medical community includes over 40 physicians and 15 dentists. With this complement of medical specialists and state-of-the-art technology, including CAT scan and mobile MRI, the St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center can provide hospital services seldom available in rural areas. High quality specialty care includes orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, urology, plastic surgery, dermatology, internal medicine, radiology, pediatrics, family practice, and general surgery. Both WRMC hospitals have 24 hour emergency care. Emergency 911 dispatch is available county wide.
St. Luke's opened the new hospital to the community in November. Services have extended beyond the hospital walls - including two fitness centers, an extended care geriatric facility, Blaine Manor, and the Women's Resource Center, which has seen much growth in its preventative work including referral, education, and counseling. The staff of these local hospitals take great pride in their reputation for personalized, caring service not often found in a big city environment.
Hospice of the Wood River Valley offers care and support to those with a terminal illness, bereavement services to adults & children, immediate response to sudden/accidental deaths, a Wellness Program, Caregivers Support, and a Community Library. Assisted Living is available through Beehive Homes in Bellevue.
